The Joys of Flying

This picture is actually Alaska, but I never get a window seat to take pictures in the plane.

Thursday night is a red eye flight because we are cheap and needed to make it Philadelphia for the the rehearsal/out of town guest dinner. Again, food, I don't miss food occasions. Catch the redeye, check, make it to the correct gate at 6:30, check, sleep through boarding, check, wake up right when the flight is finalized, check, watch our plane leave without us, check.

We must have looked so pitiful and sad that the person at the counter just set us up with another flight and put us on standby until then. The lady came by and said they were even calling our names over the intercom because they new we were there since 6:30a on a connecting flight.

Standby flight one leaves with no chance of us making it.

Standby flight number two. There were two couples. Each split up in line. So we were couple number two in the 2nd and 4th position. Couple number one was not backing down. Neither were we. Insert epic stare down. The lady at the counter proceeded to yell at all of us to get on the plane. Crisis averted.

Dirty Bird BBQ

having trouble telling how i feel but i can dance, dance, dance
-lykki Li pretty much sums it up

Disclaimer: all times are approximate. 11a. ETA to pre-funk brunch
11:22a. Actual time of arrival
11:24a realization of fried chicken in the air. Because oh yes we are having chicken and waffles. I brought the fancy waffle maker and am ready to eat.
11:35a: I am handed a delicious mimosa.
11:36-1:10: mimosa, fruit, mimosa, waffles and chicken!, Bloody Mary, face painting, mimosa. I think I am set on mimosas.
1:15p. Caravan to OMSI. Yes this crazy electronica show was at OMSI. You knew you were heading in the right direction because it went from family friendly to scantily clad  costumes. It was hot (in temperature) and it was in the gravel parking lot at OMSI. Not in OMSI.
1:20p. Peee!
1:22p-4?. Sooo much bass! Dance, drink water, dance, pee. Dance, drink water, dance, pee. Repeat for hours.
4?. Dehydrated and hot is not a good combination. It makes you pass out. Having a friend do so is terrifying. Well at least in the group we have two nurses.
Dance. Eat burgers because it is a BBQ after all.
5:30p. I am so worn out. I feel like I am having a heart aattack from the persistent crazy bass. I have to leave.
6p. Last set. Dance hard until the end!
8p. DUN done. My brain feels like Swiss cheese.
Overall I don't think I can do it again but it was worth the experience.

I like to climb...a lot.

So I've got a back log of climbing trip photos I'd like to share. I'll interject them here and there.

Here is Bishop, CA in March 2015. This is my 3rd trip to Bishop. The bouldering is phenomenal and the vistas are stunning.

He is pretty much what all climbers aspire to be. Living the dirtbag lifestyle and therefore crushing!

I was talking to an architect (Rob) and his lady friend (Annie) at Emerick in Portland about being a climber. Annie said she worked at Mammoth Mountain, right next to Bishop, for a stint and mentioned the climbers were so smelly! I had a good laugh and had to explain its because most people take long trips there and are too cheap to shower often.

So here is to being a smelly climber in Bishop for a week.

First Post (Dear Diary)

Well, I'm terrible at documenting my life in general. Of course I have the memories, but memories fade and become fuzzy. I hope this will be a reminder of my adventures, thoughts, and inspiration.

I'm titling this blog "Top Knot Adventures" because it is my go-to hair style...out of ease. I just want my hair off my neck and if you have short hair you have to get it cut every 5 weeks. I'm too lazy and cheap for that.

I was in Bishop, CA climbing and met a fun crew. A season later a girl approach me in Leavenworth, WA and said she recognized me because of my top knot. Well I guess it sticks in people's memory so we'll go with that.

Here is my signature top knot at Flattop in Anchorage, AK.
